For info, please click here . -- Spring Arrives with a New Affiliate in Indiana Avon cheerleaders painted a mural for the Day Center. Help us welcome Family Promise of Hendricks County, Indiana. They open as our fifth Affiliate in the Hoosier State. Efforts began when a group that had been grappling with the issue of family homelessness in the county, which is due west of Indianapolis, considered possible solutions. Families had no recourse for shelter except travel into Indianapolis, which despite the relative closeness was a far cry from the small-town nature of the county. The first community meeting was held at Avon Christian Church with Jeanna Beck and Claas Ehlers presiding. -- A New Affiliate in Big Sky Country Executive Director Sharon Odden. Welcome, Family Promise of Great Falls, our fifth Affiliate in the state of Montana. The city of Great Falls is not named for any one waterfall but rather for five in succession. The cascades led to its development as a city, as dams would provide ready power and made Great Falls a principal center of industry for the second half of the 20th century. Industry has waned and Malmstrom Air Force Base has shrunk, causing Great Falls’ economy to remain weak. In 2014, 318 students were identified as homeless in the school district—one in 36. -- South Carolina Celebrates Holidays with New Affiliate Family Promise of the Midlands Director Kathleen McLean-Titus. Join us in a holiday welcome to Family Promise of the Midlands, in Columbia, South Carolina. This marks the eighth Affiliate to open in the Palmetto State. The need is great--Columbia has no shelters that can take in older boys and men. In the more affluent of Richland County’s two school districts, one in 750 children is classified as homeless.
